Before you use the Timetable Manager module for the first time it is important to ensure that other modules are setup correctly and consistently. When you import an existing timetable into iSAMS, from software such as Timetabler, the lesson information setup in iSAMS must exactly match that in your existing timetable. This is necessary for the Timetable Manager module to function correctly. Lessons are identified using codes which refer to forms, subjects, teaching sets, classrooms and teaching staff. Mismatched codes will cause problems to occur when you import your existing timetable.
For example, if the first period on Monday (P1) is English (Eng) for the Year 7 top set (7A) in Room 3 (R3) with Mr Jones (MJ) is held in your existing timetable as 'P1,Eng,7A,R3,MJ'. All these codes must be consistent with codes held in iSAMS modules for your import to be successful.
Modules which are linked to the Timetable Manager module are shown in the table below. All the details setup in these modules must be complete, accurate and consistent.

School Manager | The structure of your school. - Terms. Start and end dates and names for terms.
- Departments. Setup departments in the School Manager module, you can then allocate subjects to departments in the Teaching Manager module.
- Form Groups. This ensures that you can setup lessons for teaching forms in the Timetable Manager module. Include Form Name, Room, Tutor and Year and allocate students to the Form Group. Form Names are used to identify Teaching Forms when you import Timetabler into iSAMS.
- Year Groups. Include Year Name, Subject Code and Tutor and allocate students to the Year Group. This ensures that you can setup Year Schedules, such as year group assemblies, in the Timetable Manager module.

Teaching Manager | The teaching structure of your school. - Subjects. Include Subject Name, Subject Code and whether the subject is taught in sets or forms. Subject Codes are used to identify a subject when you import Timetabler into iSAMS.
- Teaching Sets. This ensures that you can setup lessons for Teaching Sets in the Timetable Manage module. Include Subject, Teacher, Year Group, Set Code and Set Name and allocate students to the Teaching Set. Set Codes are used to identify Teaching Sets when you import Timetabler into iSAMS. For example, to import a lesson for teaching set '7A' from your existing timetable into iSAMS teaching set '7A' must be setup in the Teaching Manager module.
- Teaching Forms. Allocate Teaching Forms (Form Groups) to Subjects. This ensures that you can setup lessons for Teaching Forms in the Timetable Manager module.

Estates Manager | The buildings in your school. - Buildings. Include Building Name and Initials.
- Classrooms. Include Classroom Name and Initials and allocate to a building. Classroom Initials are used to identify a room when you import Timetabler into iSAMS.

Student Manager | The student population of your school. - Student Names. Include Forename and Surname.
- Students must be allocated to a Year Group, Academic House, Form and Tutor. This ensures that you can allocate lessons to students in the Timetable Manager module.

Human Resources Manager | The teaching staff in your school. - Staff Names. Include Forename, Surname and School Initials. School Initials are used to identify a teacher when you import Timetabler into iSAMS.
- You must setup staff as Teaching Staff and allocate them with a Registered Subject to include them in a timetable.

Once the information in these modules is setup you are ready to configure the Timetable Manager module to suit you and create a school timetable.
