Use the options listed under Inbound Configuration to configure the SMS Gateway applet for inbound messages. This allows parents to reply to the SMS messages that they receive via iSAMS.
Recipients can reply to a virtual number and if they quote keywords these replies are forwarded to the appropriate person within your school. Inbound messages are logged for audit purposes but no log is kept in pupil records (this feature will be added in the future).
To configure inbound SMS messages:
- Select the iSAMS Control Panel from the left hand menu.
- Select the SMS Gateway listed within the applets available.
- Three inbound Configuration options are available in the right hand menu:
- Work through the options in the following order:
- Inbound SMS Configuration. Configure inbound message functionality in the SMS Gateway applet.
- Manage Virtual Numbers. Manage the sender numbers for SMS messages. Virtual numbers are used for inbound messages.
- Manage Inbound Keywords. Identify keywords from inbound messages so that they can be directed to the right contact within your school.
- Manage Applet Workflows. Manage where inbound messages are sent within your school. Once created, workflows must be linked to a virtual number.
- Ensure that the settings in Manage Sender Identities are setup for the virtual number.
