Use Manage Staff Options to setup the use of staff absence and staff unavailable systems to suit you. You must do this before you start arranging cover for lessons. Your selections are used across all cover cycles in the Cover Manager module.

To setup Manage Staff Options, follow the steps below:
- Open the Cover Manager module and select the Manage Cover tab.
- Select Manage Staff Options from the right hand menu.
Click on the Staff Absence Options tab and complete the sections available:

Staff Absences
Use Staff Absences. Select Yes to start using Manage Staff Absences. You must do this before you start arranging cover for lessons.
Default Reason. The default reason displays first when you add a staff absence. Select the most commonly used absence reason to save time. Only one reason can be setup as the default.
Click to add a new absence reason, if required. See Create an Absence Reason for more information.
Default Duration. The default duration type displays first when adding a staff absence. Select the most commonly used duration type to save time.
Staff Absence Defaults
This section is only displayed when you select the Default Duration of 'Time'.
Set default start and end times to suit you. For example, set start and end times to reflect your school day.
You can choose to change the default times when adding an absence, if required.
Click Save Options to save your selections. Use Reload Options to reload the last saved settings.
Select the Unavailable Staff Options tab and complete the sections available:
