Run the Clash Listing report in the External Exams Manager module to check for any time clashes in candidate exam timetables. Use this report to highlight any changes that might be need to be made.
To run clash listings:
Open the External Exams Manager module and select the Timetables tab.
Select Clash Listing from the right hand menu to display the Report Wizard window:
Select the General Options tab and work through the sections displayed:
Reporting Services. 'In-Built Report' is preselected and can only be changed by iSAMS HelpDesk.
Select the exam Cycle that you want to report on.
Select your preferred Report Format. Recommendations for each format are shown onscreen.
- Select the Candidate Status that you want to report on. Choose from either:
- 'Current'.
- 'Private'. This includes returning candidates.
- 'All' candidates. This is useful if private and returning candidates are sitting exams alongside current candidates.
Select the Filter Options tab and choose the students and qualifications that you want to include in the report:
- Either:
- Enter the name of a specific student in the Single Student section.
or - Select a year group, form, boarding or academic house in the Student Group section.
- Enter the name of a specific student in the Single Student section.
- Apply the Qualifications Filters if required. Choose the qualifications and levels of qualification that you want to include in the report. Click to view the full lists of qualifications and levels.

Select the Report Specific Options tab to set details for the report:
- Date Range. Check the box and click the calendar icons to set a date range for exams.
- Number of exams allowed per session. Enter the number of exam clashes that are permissible per AM or PM session before changes have to be made to a candidate timetable. Enter '1' if you want all clashes to show in the report. You may want to allow a small number of exams to clash if you know that they can be accommodated into one session. For example, if you enter '3' here and the session duration is '180' minutes then 3 exams of 60 minutes each would not show in the report.
- Total duration allowed per session. Enter the duration in minutes of each AM and PM session.
- Click Produce Report, an example of an .html report is shown below:
Scroll through the report to see each candidate.
Choose to print or save the report as required.
- Open the Candidate Timetables option to make changes to timetables.
