Create additional fields to your Custom Search using the Admissions Custom Search option. Use this to set up search fields in the Custom View tab. These fields can then be used when searching for applicant records. Fields in the Custom View tab are categorised by fieldset; grouping fields in this way is a useful housekeeping tool.
An example of the Admissions Custom Search screen is shown below:
Choose to:
- Add a fieldset. Fieldsets are categories for the custom fields you choose to add to the Custom View tab. All custom fields must be assigned to a fieldset.
- Add a field. Add a custom field to the Custom View tab. These fields are used when searching for applicant records.
- Arrange the fieldsets. Change the order of the fieldsets on the Custom View screen.
- Sort fields within fieldsets. Change the order of fields within fieldsets.
- Edit a fieldset, such as the fieldset's title.
- Delete a fieldset. Remove a custom fieldset that is no longer in use.
- Edit a field, such as the field's assigned fieldset.
- Delete a field. Remove a custom field that is no longer in use.
Add a Fieldset
Fieldsets are categories for the custom fields you choose to add to the Custom View tab. All custom fields included in the Custom View tab must be assigned to a fieldset. Fieldsets are displayed as sections in the Custom View tab and are useful for grouping similar custom fields together.
To add a fieldset, follow the steps below:
- In the Admissions module, select the Configuration tab.
- Select the Admissions Custom Search option from the menu to the right of the screen.
The Admissions Custom Search screen is displayed: - Click Add Fieldset.
A popup window is displayed: - Complete the fields in the Fieldset Properties section:
- Fieldset Label. Specify a clear and concise name for the fieldset. This is displayed as a section in the Custom View tab.
- Fieldset Position. Choose the side of the Custom View tab where you wish the fieldset to be displayed. This helps you to control the look of the Custom View tab.
- Either:
- Click Save & Close when finished.
or - Click Save & Add to continue adding custom fields.
You can now add a field to the fieldset to have it displayed in the Custom View tab when searching for applicants using the Custom Search option. - Click Save & Close when finished.
Add a Field
Create new custom fields for the Custom View tab. These fields are used when searching for applicant records.
To add a search field, follow the steps below:
- In the Admissions module, select the Configuration tab.
- Select the Admissions Custom Search option from the menu to the right of the screen.
The Admissions Custom Search screen is displayed: - Either:
- Click Add Field at the top of the screen.
or - Click next to the fieldset you wish to add the field to.
- Click Add Field at the top of the screen.
- Complete the fields in the Field Properties section:
- Fieldset. Choose the fieldset you wish the field to appear under. Each fieldset is displayed as a section in the Custom View tab.
- Field Label. Specify a clear and concise name for the field. This is displayed in the Custom View tab.
- Data Field. Choose the information you wish to search records by from the custom field. This can be any information held in an applicant or pupil record.
- Either:
- Click Save & Add to continue adding custom fields.
or - Click Save & Close when finished.
- Click Save & Add to continue adding custom fields.
Arrange Fieldsets
Change the layout of fieldsets displayed in the Custom Search tab. This helps you control the look of the Custom View tab and is useful if you prefer to order fieldsets alphabetically or into a more logical order.
To arrange the fieldsets available, follow the steps below:
- In the Admissions module, select the Configuration tab.
- Select the Admissions Custom Search option from the menu to the right of the screen.
The Admissions Custom Search screen is displayed:
Fieldsets are grouped either to the left or right of the Custom Search tab. The side selected for each fieldset is displayed next to the fieldset name. - In the header bar, select either:
- Arrange Left Fieldsets.
or - Arrange Right Fieldsets.
- Arrange Left Fieldsets.
- Click on the fieldset you wish to reorder.
- Use the arrows to change the fieldset's position.
- Click Save & Close when finished. To revert to previously saved settings, click Cancel.
Sort Fields within Fieldsets
Change the order of fields displayed in the Custom Search tab. This helps you control the look of the Custom View tab and is useful if you prefer to order fields alphabetically or into a more logical order.
To arrange the fields available, follow the steps below:
- In the Admissions module, select the Configuration tab.
- Select the Admissions Custom Search option from the menu to the right of the screen.
The Admissions Custom Search screen is displayed: - Click next to the fieldset you wish to reorganise.
A popup window is displayed: - Click on the field you wish to reorder.
- Use the arrows to change the field's position.
- Click Save & Close when finished. To revert to previously saved settings, click Cancel.
Edit a Fieldset
Use the Admissions Custom Search option to edit a custom fieldset, as required. Use this to change the fieldset's title and position in the Custom View tab.
To edit a custom fieldset, follow the steps below:
- In the Admissions module, select the Configuration tab.
- Select the Admissions Custom Search option from the menu to the right of the screen.
The Admissions Custom Search screen is displayed: - Click next to the fieldset you wish to edit.
A popup window is displayed: - Edit the fields in the Fieldset Properties section as required:
- Fieldset Label. Specify a title for the field section.
- Fieldset Position. Choose the side where you wish the fieldset to be displayed in the Custom View search screen.
- Click Save & Close when finished. To revert to previously saved settings, click Cancel.
Delete a Fieldset
Delete a custom fieldset in the Admissions Custom Search screen. You may wish to use this to remove custom fieldsets that are no longer in use.
To delete a custom fieldset, follow the steps below:
- In the Admissions module, select the Configuration tab.
- Select the Admissions Custom Search option from the menu to the right of the screen.
The Admissions Custom Search screen is displayed: - Click next to the fieldset you wish to delete.
A popup window is displayed. You are prompted Are you sure you want to delete this fieldset? This will also remove all associate fields. - Make the appropriate selection.
The selected fieldset is now removed from the Admissions module.
Edit a Field
Use the Admissions Custom Search option to edit a custom field, as required. Use this to change the fieldset that the field is listed under, its title and the information that the field searches applicants by.
To edit a custom field, follow the steps below:
- In the Admissions module, select the Configuration tab.
- Select the Admissions Custom Search option from the menu to the right of the screen.
The Admissions Custom Search screen is displayed: - Click next to the field you wish to edit.
A popup window is displayed: - Edit the fields in the Field Properties section as required:
- Fieldset. Choose the fieldset you wish the field to appear under. Each fieldset is displayed as a section in the Custom View tab.

A popup window is displayed. You are prompted Are you sure you want to delete this field? - Make the appropriate selection.
The selected field is now removed from the Admissions module.
