Use Manage Staff Linking to link the staff details held in the Human Resources Manager module with the Cover Manager module. Also use this function to start using new agency staff in the Cover Manager module. Your selections in Manage Staff Linking influence the number of teachers which you can use to cover lessons.

To setup Staff Linking, follow the steps below:
- Open the Cover Manager module and select the Configuration tab.
Select Manage Staff Linking from the right hand menu.

Explanation
Staff Linking Filters
Select Yes to include staff listed as 'Teaching Staff' or 'Part Time' in the Human Resources Manager module. Selecting No in both of these filters makes all staff listed in iSAMS as available in the Cover Manager module, this includes non-teaching staff members.
Manual Staff Sync
Select Manual to control when staff listed in the Human Resources Manager module are used in the Cover Manager module. Click Run Staff Sync Routine to link the information held in these modules.
Once a teacher has been linked to the Cover Manager module, their details remain in the module. This happens even when a teacher is no longer listed as 'Teaching Staff'. To remove teachers from cover lists you must change their covering status in the module to either 'suspended' or 'excluded'. Change a teacher's status from the Manage Cover tab using Manage Staff & Teachers.
Selecting When Module Starts automatically updates information each time you open the Cover Manager module. The Run Staff Sync Routine button is still available to use when you need to update the module before it is reopened.
Staff Linking Defaults
These settings apply to new agency staff and staff that have been added in the Human Resources Manager module. You may find it useful to limit the use of new staff until you start a new cover cycle.
Suspend Staff From Cover. Selecting Yes means that new staff cannot be used to cover lessons but are still listed in statistics. Select No and click Run Staff Sync Routine to include new staff who have been suspended up to now.
Exclude Staff From Cover. Selecting Yes removes new staff from both covering lists and statistics. Select No and click Run Staff Sync Routine to include new staff who have been excluded up to now.
Default Cover Priority. Add a weighting value to move new staff up or down the 'Free' teacher list, as you would when setting up Cover Parameters. You may prefer to use more established teachers for cover or want to prioritize the use of new staff.
Click Save Linking when you have made your selections. Use Reload Linking to reload the last saved settings.
