The User Accounts applet lets you view information in two different formats. The User List View displays information in a table-like format. Use this view for using additional options to configure user accounts.
Access the User List View by selecting User List View from the top left of the User Accounts screen.
An example of the User List View is shown below:
Use the User List View to perform actions to multiple user accounts at once. Select the user accounts you wish to configure and use the drop down menu in the top right of the screen to choose a function.
Choose to:
- Batch Edit Properties. Choose which information can be viewed in different areas of iSAMS.
- Force User Logoff. Log a user off remotely for security reasons.
- Disable Account. Stop specific user accounts from accessing your system.
- Enable Account. Allow access to iSAMS for multiple disabled user accounts.
- Reset User Preferences. Use this to revert the interface preferences for multiple users to their default settings.
- Reset User Passwords. Use this if several users have forgotten their passwords.
- Delete Users. Use this to remove user accounts created in error.
- Batch Edit Authorisation. Update user authentication from a password stored on iSAMS to their active directory account.
You can also use the buttons next to a listed user account to:
- Modify a user's properties, such as the user's listed contact details.
- Delete a user account. Use this to remove a user account created in error.
Batch Edit Properties
Edit the properties of multiple user accounts at once in the User List View. This option lets you limit the selected users to view information only from specified areas of iSAMS. You can also select the APIs that the user account is allowed to connect to; users are then only granted access to information from enabled APIs.
To edit the permissions of multiple accounts, follow the steps below:
- Select the User Accounts applet from Control Panel.
- Select User List View from the top left of the screen.
- Search for the user accounts you wish to edit by using the filters available.
- Use the checkboxes to select the user accounts you wish to edit.
- Select Batch Edit Properties from the drop down list in the top right of the screen:
A pop-up window is displayed: - Use the drop down lists available to change the access permissions for the selected user accounts.
- Click Batch Edit & Close when finished. To revert to previously saved settings, click Cancel.
Force User Logoff
Multiple users can be logged off at once using the Force User Logoff option. You can use this feature to log inactive users out of iSAMS should they forget to log out of the system. Alternatively, this can be used to prevent unauthorised personnel from accessing iSAMS should they be logged into the system already.
To force multiple users to be logged out of iSAMS, follow the steps below:
- Select the User Accounts applet from Control Panel.
- Select User List View from the top left of the screen.
- Search for the user accounts you wish to log off by using the filters available.
- Use the checkboxes to select the user accounts you wish to log out.
- Select Force User Logoff from the drop down list in the top right of the screen:
You are prompted Are you sure you want to force log off the selected users? - Make the appropriate selection.
The selected users are now logged out of iSAMS.
Disable Account
Prevent multiple users from accessing iSAMS by using the Disable Account option. This prevents users from logging in and accessing your iSAMS system with their credentials. You may wish to use this to prevent specific users from accessing the system or if a user account has been compromised.
To disable multiple user accounts, follow the steps below:
- Select the User Accounts applet from Control Panel.
- Select User List View from the top left of the screen.
- Search for the user accounts you wish to disable by using the filters available.
- Use the checkboxes to select the user accounts you wish to disable.
- Select Disable Account from the drop down list in the top right of the screen:
You are prompted Are you sure you want to disable the selected user accounts? Make the appropriate selection.
Disabling an account whilst a user is logged in automatically times the user out of iSAMS.
The selected users' accounts are now disabled.
Enable Account
Enable multiple user accounts that have been previously disabled using the Enable Account option. Select multiple disabled user accounts to let the selected users access iSAMS with their user credentials.
To enable multiple user accounts, follow the steps below:
- Select the User Accounts applet from Control Panel.
- Select User List View from the top left of the screen.
- Search for the user accounts you wish to enable by using the filters available.
- Use the checkboxes to select the user accounts you wish to enable.
- Select Enable Account from the drop down list in the top right of the screen:
You are prompted Are you sure you want to enable the selected user accounts? - Make the appropriate selection.
The selected users' accounts are now enabled.
Reset User Preferences
Reset the preference settings for multiple users using the Reset User Preferences option. This restores the preference settings to the defaults that are assigned to the users' accounts. You may wish to use this when troubleshooting issues linked to a user account.
To reset users' preferences, follow the steps below:
- Select the User Accounts applet from Control Panel.
- Select User List View from the top left of the screen.
- Search for user accounts by using the filters available.
- Use the checkboxes to select the user accounts you wish to reset the preferences for.
- Select Reset User Preferences from the drop down list in the top right of the screen:
You are prompted Are you sure you want to reset the selected users preferences? - Make the appropriate selection.
The selected users' preference settings are now reset.
Reset User Passwords
Reset passwords linked to multiple users' accounts using the Reset User Passwords option. Use this to reset the passwords of multiple accounts if a number of users have forgotten their passwords. This can also be used to force users to change their password for security reasons.
To reset the passwords of multiple accounts, follow the steps below:
- Select the User Accounts applet from Control Panel.
- Select User List View from the top left of the screen.
- Search for user accounts by using the filters available.
- Use the checkboxes to select the user accounts you wish to reset the passwords for.
- Select Reset User Passwords from the drop down list in the top right of the screen:
A pop-up window is displayed: - Use the radio buttons to choose a password to assign.
- Click Save & Close when finished. To revert to previously saved settings, click Cancel.
Delete Users
Delete multiple user accounts at once using the Delete Users option. For example, you can use this to delete multiple accounts that you have created in error.
To delete multiple user accounts at once, follow the steps below:
- Select the User Accounts applet from Control Panel.
- Select User List View from the top left of the screen.
- Search for the user accounts you wish to delete by using the filters available.
- Use the checkboxes to select the user accounts you wish to delete.
- Select Delete Users from the drop down list in the top right of the screen:
You are prompted Are you sure you want to delete the selected users? - Make the appropriate selection.
The selected users' accounts are now deleted from iSAMS.
Modify a User's Properties
Once you have created a user account, you may wish to change the properties linked to it such as the user's e-mail address. Use the button to change the user's contact details directly in the User List View. You can also change the access permissions for the account and reassign it to a new user group or security profile. Alter the directory paths for linked network spaces and delete linked user devices from this option.
To edit the properties listed for a user account, follow the steps below:
- Select the User Accounts applet from Control Panel.
- Select User List View from the top left of the screen.
- Search for the user account you wish to modify by using the filters available.
- Click next to the user account to modify its listed properties.
A pop-up window is displayed: - Use the User Details tab to complete the user's basic details, such as their full name and title.
- Complete the fields in the Account Details tab to change the account properties, such as the user type and access options associated with the account.
- Use the Contact Details tab to change the contact details associated with the account, such as the postal address and telephone numbers.
- Use the My Network Space tab to specify a directory path for the server area assigned to the user account in the My Network Space module. Use the tab to view network space profiles that are shared with the user.
- View the account's registered mobile devices in the User Devices tab. Click the buttons available to disable or delete a device. You can also delete all devices associated with the account.
- Click Save & Close when finished. To revert to previously saved settings, click Cancel.
Delete a User Account
Use the button to remove a user account from your system in the User List View. For example, you can use this to delete a user account that you have created in error.
To delete a user account using the User List View, follow the steps below:
- Select the User Accounts applet from Control Panel.
- Select User List View from the top left of the screen.
- Search for the user account you wish to delete by using the filters available.
- Click next to the user account you wish to delete.
You are prompted Are you sure you want to delete this user? - Make the appropriate selection.
The selected users' account is now deleted from iSAMS.
Batch Edit Authorisation
Update in bulk user authentication from a password stored on iSAMS to an active directory account.
- Select the User Accounts applet from Control Panel.
- Select User List View from the top left of the screen.
- Search for the user accounts you wish to edit by using the filters available.
- Select the Page Size that you want to work with. Only the users displayed on the page are included in your selection. This is useful when there are a large number of users in iSAMS.
- Use the checkboxes to select the user accounts you wish to edit.
- Select Batch Edit Authorisation from the drop down list in the top right of the screen:
- Select 'Active Directory' and click Batch Edit & Close.
All of the selected users can now log into iSAMS using their activity directory password instead of their iSAMS database password.
