Manage existing security profiles in the Permissions & Security Profiles applet in Control Panel. For example, you can edit the default permissions for a security profile and then assign user accounts to the profile. This is also useful for viewing the users associated with a security profile.
Choose to:
- View Security Profile Users. View and print a list of user accounts linked to a security profile.
- Print Security Profiles. Print and distribute a copy of the module permissions settings for a security profile.
- Copy Security Profiles. Duplicate an existing security profile to use as a template.
- Edit Security Profiles. Edit the properties of a security profile, including the profile description and default permissions settings.
- Delete Security Profiles. Remove security profiles that you have created or copied in error.
View Security Profile Users
You can view the details of users assigned to security profiles using the Permissions & Security Profiles applet. This is useful for providing an overview from within the applet. The names, e-mail addresses and user types of linked user accounts can then be printed.
To view the users linked to a security profile, follow the steps below:
- Select the Permissions & Security Profiles applet from Control Panel.
- Select the Security Profiles tab. An example of the options available in the Security Profiles tab is shown below:
- Click next to the security profile you wish to view linked user accounts.
A pop-up window is displayed: - Click Print View to print a hard copy of user details linked to the security profile.
Print Security Profiles
View and print the permission settings you assign to a security profile using the Permissions & Security Profiles applet. You generate a .doc file that can then be opened or saved to your computer. Open the .doc file to print a hard copy of the settings.
To print a copy of permissions settings for a security profile, follow the steps below:
- Select the Permissions & Security Profiles applet from Control Panel.
- Select the Security Profiles tab. An example of the options available in the Security Profiles tab is shown below:
- Click next to the security profile you wish to view the permissions settings for.
A .doc file is generated. Open or save the file as required. - You can now print a hard copy of the permissions settings for the security profile or distribute them electronically.
Copy Security Profiles
You can copy a security profile in the Permissions & Security Profiles applet. Use this to duplicate the security profile; you can then edit the security profile name and assign different user accounts to it. This feature can save you time for when you need to create multiple security profiles with the same default permission settings.
To copy a security profile, follow the steps below:
- Select the Permissions & Security Profiles applet from Control Panel.
- Select the Security Profiles tab. An example of the options available in the Security Profiles tab is shown below:
- Click next to the security profile you wish to copy.
You are prompted Are you sure you want to copy this security profile? - Make the appropriate selection.
The security profile is now copied and appears in the list of security profiles.
Edit Security Profiles
You can edit the properties of existing security profiles in the Permissions & Security Profiles applet. For example, you may wish to use this to update the description of the security profile. You can also change the module permissions settings stored for a security profile.
To edit a security profile's settings, follow the steps below:
- Select the Permissions & Security Profiles applet from Control Panel.
- Select the Security Profiles tab. An example of the options available in the Security Profiles tab is shown below:
- Click next to the security profile you wish to edit. The Modify Profile tab is displayed:
- Use the Profile Properties section to edit the Security Profile Name and Profile Description.
- Use the checkboxes available to change the profile's permissions settings for iSAMS modules.
- Click Save Group when finished. To quit without saving, select another available tab.
Delete Security Profiles
You can delete your created or duplicated security profiles from the Security Profiles tab. You may wish to use this when you have created a security profile in error. The option to delete a security profile appears only when the security profile is not assigned to any user accounts.
To delete a security profile, follow the steps below:
- Select the Permissions & Security Profiles applet from Control Panel.
- Select the Security Profiles tab. An example of the options available in the Security Profiles tab is shown below:
- Click next to the security profile you wish to delete.
You are prompted Are you sure you want to delete this security profile? - Make the appropriate selection.
The selected security profile is now removed from iSAMS.
