Use the Detect Candidate Clashes option in the External Exams Manager module to check for duplicates of Unique Candidate Identifiers and candidate numbers. This should be run after candidates have been imported. Wizards are available to assist you if you find a clash.
To detect candidate clashes:
- Open the External Exams Manager module and select the Candidates tab.
- Select the Detect Candidate Clashes option from the right hand menu to display this window:
- Click UCI Clashes to list any Unique Candidate Identifiers clashes. Clashes are listed in the same way for both UCI and candidate numbers. No clashes are shown in the example above.
- Click Cand. Number Clashes:
- Click next to each candidate to edit the clashes.
The Edit Candidate window is displayed: - Click next to the UCI field if you need to resolve a UCI clash. A new UCI is generated.
- Manually change the Candidate Number if you need to. Be aware that candidate numbers may be recycled every few years so clashes are to be expected and you may not need o change them. When you go to save the changes, you are prompted if the number you add is already in use.
- Click Edit Candidate to save any changes and continue to work through clashes listed in the Candidate Clash Detection window, as required.
- Click Close Window when you have resolved all the clashes.
- Click Detect Candidate Clashes again to run another check. This ensures that you have double checked for clashes.
