Use the Import New BaseData option in the External Exams Manager module when you first starting working with the BaseData tab or are working in a new exam cycle.
Each exam cycle must have up to date BaseData for the exams and assessments being taken in your school. These files are available either online from exam boards or are emailed to each exam centre.
International schools must get in touch with iSAMS for CIE BaseData.
To import new BaseData:
- Open the External Exams Manager module and select the BaseData tab.
- Select Import New BaseData from the right hand menu to display the Import BaseData screen:
- Use the drop down list in the top right of the screen to select the exam cycle that you want to work in.
- Check that iSAMS is compatible with the data you want to import. The example shown above 'supports JCQ Specification versions 9-14'. Contact the HelpDesk if there is a discrepancy.
- Ensure that you have the DataBase file that you want to import and that it is the correct format. .zip files and .exe files are supported.
- Click Choose File and select the file to import from your computer.
- Use the Centre drop down list to select the exam centre that you want to work with.
- Click Import BaseData.
A confirmation is displayed on the screen once the data has been imported successfully. An error message is displayed if the information in the cycle you have selected does not match with the BaseData you are importing. - Select the View Imported BaseData option from the right hand menu to see the data that you have just imported.
- You are now ready to start working with exam programmes and options.
