You can reorganise and add new module groups to your iSAMS system, to customise it to your preferences. You can also create new modules at the same level as module groups, if you wish not to include the module within a module group.
Module groups are listed as folders on the left side of the Modules & Programmes screen. You can then expand the groups to view its contained modules.
Four functions are available to you when you access the Modules & Programmes applet:
- Create New Module. Add a new module to iSAMS based on your created .asp web pages.
- Create New Module Group. Add module groups to sort your modules based on their content.
- Publish Applet As Module. List any of the applets shown in Control Panel as a module in the module bar. This is useful for allowing staff access to selected parts of the Control Panel.
- Edit Module Group Properties. Change the module group's name and description.
- Arrange Groups. Change the order that your module groups appear in on the left side of the iSAMS interface.
Create New Module
You can create new modules in iSAMS based on .asp web pages that you own. This can be used to add extra functionality to your iSAMS system, for example adding an E-Mail client within iSAMS lets users send e-mails without leaving the iSAMS system.
To create a new module, follow the steps below:
- Select the Modules & Programmes applet from Control Panel.
- Either:
- Select Create New Module after selecting Module Groups from the menu on the left of the screen;
or - Select Add New Module after selecting the module group you wish to add the module to;
or - Select Add New Module after selecting the module you wish to add to.
- Select Create New Module after selecting Module Groups from the menu on the left of the screen;
- Use the Module Details tab to input a name, description, icon and identifier for your new module. You can also specify a path to link it to a function, typically an .asp web page, and choose to organise it into a module group. Also include copyright details as required.
- Use the Module Permissions tab to assign default user permissions to the module. Tick the checkboxes to make your selections.
- Use the Module Options tab to configure settings for how the module is run on a user's machine. For example, you can choose the module to only run in Internet Explorer. You can also set the module to launch as a shell application, which incorporates the iSAMS user interface. Choose to have the module open as a popup window and specify the default size of the window.
- Click Save & Close when finished.
Create New Module Group
You can create new module groups to organise your iSAMS Modules. This is useful for organising modules into sections. For example, you may wish to create a new module group called Exams to include the External Exams Manager module. Module groups are shown on the left pane of the iSAMS interface, users access modules by expanding the groups.
To create a new module group, follow the steps below:
- Select the Modules & Programmes applet from Control Panel.
- Either:
- Select Create New Module Group after selecting Module Groups from the menu on the left of the screen;
or - Select Create Module Group after selecting a module group.
- Select Create New Module Group after selecting Module Groups from the menu on the left of the screen;
- Enter a Group Name for your group.
- Enter a Description for your group. This is displayed when you click on the module group in the Modules & Programmes option.
- Click Save & Close when finished.
Publish Applet As Module
List any of the applets shown in Control Panel as a module in the module bar. This is useful for allowing staff access to selected parts of the Control Panel, such as the SMS Gateway and suite of apps.
- Select the Modules & Programmes applet from Control Panel.
- Click Publish Applet As Module.
A popup window is displayed: - Select the Module Applet that you want to publish and change the name of it, if required.
- Select a Module Icon. This is displayed in the module bar once the applet is published.
- Select a Module Group. This determines where the applet is displayed in the module bar.
- Click Save & Close.
- Click Reload iSAMS:

Edit Module Group Properties
You can edit an existing module group's properties as required. Change the module group's name and description here. For example, this is useful for changing the module version number in a module's description when it is updated.
To edit a module group's properties, follow the steps below:
- Select the Modules & Programmes applet from Control Panel.
- Select the desired module group from the menu to the left of the screen.
- Click Edit Module Group Properties.
A popup window is displayed: - Edit the Group Name and Description as required.
- Click Save & Close when finished.
Arranging Module Groups
You can change the relative positions of existing module groups. Use this to customise the order of the module groups in the left pane of the iSAMS interface.
To arrange the order of module groups, follow the steps below:
- Select the Modules & Programmes applet from Control Panel.
- Either:
- Select Arrange Groups after selecting Module Groups from the menu on the left of the screen;
or - Select Arrange Module Groups after selecting a module group.
- Select Arrange Groups after selecting Module Groups from the menu on the left of the screen;
- Click on the module group you wish to reorder.
- Use the arrows to change the module group's position.
- Click Save & Close when finished.
