Every Pupil Portal user account is assigned access rights, customising their experience to suit their needs. The User Access and Links section of a user account lets you view the permissions assigned to the account.
You can also view an account's linked mobile devices and link the user account to a parent or pupil record from this section. Linking a user account to a parent or pupil record is useful for granting access to portals to the user account; the user can then view portal information relating to their pupil record. This is useful for checking portal information is displayed correctly.
To view the User Access and Links section, follow the steps below:
- In the Pupil Portal Manager module, select the Security tab.
The Manage Portal Users screen is displayed first. - Select an existing user account from the tree to the left of the screen:

Linking a User Account to a Pupil or Parent Record
User accounts can be linked to parent and pupil records that have been created in iSAMS, granting users access to the Pupil and Parent Portals. Linking user accounts lets pupils view relevant information in the Pupil Portal.
Parent and Pupil Portal access is granted only when user accounts are linked to the respective records.
To link a user account to a parent or pupil record, follow the steps below:
- In the Pupil Portal Manager module, select the Security tab.
The Manage Portal Users screen is displayed first. - Select an existing user account from the tree to the left of the screen:
- In the User Access and Links section, click Link Account to link an account to a pupil or family.
A popup window is displayed: - Type the surname of the parent or pupil record that you wish to link to. A list of suggestions appears as you type; click a name to select it from the list.
- Click Save & Close when finished.
The user account is now linked to the parent or parent record that you have specified. You can unlink the account by clicking the Un-Link Account link.
