Emergency broadcasts provide a quick way of sending messages to multiple users in an emergency, such as an evacuation.
To send an emergency broadcast:
- Select the iSAMS Control Panel from the left hand menu.
- Select the SMS Gateway listed within the applets available.
- Select Emergency Broadcast Settings from the right hand menu.
- Open the Send Broadcast tab:
- Either:
- Select a template from the Message Template drop down. The body of the selected template message can be edited in the Message Body field if required.
or - Enter a new message in the Message Body field.
- Select a template from the Message Template drop down. The body of the selected template message can be edited in the Message Body field if required.
- Use the Message Settings checkbox if required. A description of this setting is shown on screen. Sending a message as a unicode string reduces the character limit of a message from 140 to 70.
- Set the Outbound Sender Identity. Emergency broadcast recipients see the selected Sender Identity as the caller ID.
- In the Batch Options sections, set the:
- Click Send SMS Message.
A log of the message is kept in Outbound Gateway Logs.
