Mobile app users can subscribe to notification channels to ensure that they receive notifications which are relevant to them. A number of channels are inbuilt in iSAMS, you can also add your own custom channels.
To create a push notification channel:
- Either:
- Open the iSAMS Control Panel and select the Mobile & Tablet Manager applet.
or - Select Mobile & Tablet Manager from the module bar if the applet has been configured to display here.
- Open the iSAMS Control Panel and select the Mobile & Tablet Manager applet.
Open the Notifications tab and select any of the four options listed under Notifications Channels in the right hand menu. The example below shows the Manage Push Channels option which displays all channels in all apps:
- Click Create Push Channel in the top left of the screen. A popup window is displayed:
- Select the Channel Details tab and enter a clear and concise Channel Identity, Channel Name and Channel Display Name. You may want to use the same name for each of these. Channel Name is displayed when selecting a channel for sending a notification message.
- Enter a Channel Description and select 'Enabled' in Show Description what does this do?
- Set the Channel State to 'Enabled' to start using the channel.
- Select the Channel Apps tab and make selections to determine the use of the channel:
Use the checkboxes to select the apps that you want the channel to be listed in. Your selections determine which of the other tabs are available in this window.
Use the drop downs and checkboxs to set features for the channel:
Column Explanation Group what is this for? Auto Subscribe Check the box for app users to automatically subscribe to the channel and receive notifications. Active Check the box for the channel to be active for the selected app.Hidden Check the box for the channel to be hidden in the selected app. This could be useful for channels that are still being developed. Select an app tab and select the current users who can access the app. The tabs available depend on your selections in the Channel Apps tab:
- Click Save & Close.
The channel is listed in the Notification Channels options and (if enabled and active) can be selected when sending notification messages.
