Use the Accounts and Charges tab in Fees Billing to manage nominal categories. It is not recommended that you actively use nominal categories however you must set up a dummy default category before you can start to use nominal accounts. All nominal accounts must be assigned to a nominal category.
Choose to:
- Create a Nominal Category. You must set up a nominal category before using nominal accounts.
- Edit a Nominal Category. Change the active status or name of a category.
- Delete a Nominal Category. Remove a category which has been added in error. You cannot delete a category which is in use.

Create a Nominal Category
You must set up a nominal category before you start using nominal accounts.
To create a nominal category, follow the steps below:
- Select the Accounts and Charges tab in Fees Billing and open the Navigation tab on the right of the screen.
- Select Nominal Categories from the Navigation options.
The Nominal Categories screen is displayed. - Click Create New Category. A popup window is displayed:
- Enter a Category Code and Description (Name) to identify the nominal category. The Category Code that you use must be unique.
- Use the Active checkbox to mark the category as active/inactive. You can only use nominal accounts when they are listed in an active category.
- Click Save & Close.
The category is listed in the Nominal Categories screen.
Edit a Nominal Category
Change the active status or name of a category.
To edit a nominal category, follow the steps below:
- Select the Accounts and Charges tab in Fees Billing and open the Navigation tab on the right of the screen.
- Select Nominal Categories from the Navigation options.
The Nominal Categories screen is displayed. - Locate the nominal category that you want to edit and click . A popup window is displayed:
- Edit the Description (Name) of the nominal category. You cannot edit the Category Code.
- Use the Active checkbox to mark the category as active/inactive. You can only use nominal accounts when they are listed in an active category.
- Click Save & Close.
The category is listed in the Nominal Categories screen.
Delete a Nominal Category
Remove a category which has been added in error. You cannot delete a category which is in use.
To delete a nominal category, follow the the steps below:
- Select the Accounts and Charges tab in Fees Billing and open the Navigation tab on the right of the screen.
- Select Nominal Categories from the Navigation options.
The Nominal Categories screen is displayed. - Locate the nominal category that you want to delete and click .
You are prompted Are you sure you want to delete this cycle? - Select OK.
The category is deleted.
